South Auckland’s newest 5 Star Rated Green building is home to the Blind and Low Vision Education Network NZ (BLENNZ).
The new complex is located on the existing school grounds and was constructed after the removal of old, cold, and unhealthy buildings that had been erected in the 1960s.
The project called on the team at Plumbcraft to call on the diversity and wide ranging expertise of its people to deliver a result that would not be possible from a standard plumbing contractor.
The complex construction methodology and Green star rating meant Plumbcraft had to be more than your average contractor. The client was able to call on our expertise to work with the design team in the early stages to optimize Green star points throughout the plumbing and heating systems.
Tasks undertaken to achieve this included the design and installation of energy efficient underfloor heating, solar water heating systems, rain water harvesting systems, a hydraulic design that optimized the use of water saving tapware and sanitary fixtures, and a fully recyclable piping system throughout the buildings.
