Project Takitini

Ohakea Air Force Base

Ebert Construction

This project comprised the construction of new hangars and associated amenities to accommodate the new NH90 and A109 helicopters for the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

The 8,200m2 building is concrete with a structural steel roof frame and Kingspan insulated roof cladding. Building services included an in-slab fire protection system; a 400Hz power supply for the aircraft; and an underfloor heating system, incorporating just over 28km of pipework.

Redesign underfloor heating system and the introduction of Rehau's Rautherm S sub-surface heating pipe system into the New Zealand market. This enabled Plumbcraft to be innovative in satisfying the client's requirements. Installing 28,000 metes of 25mm Rautherm S heating pipe, 400 metres of 063mm DUO Rauthermex pipe in-ground heating mains and 50mm industrial manifolds. The company demonstrated its ability to be creative, strategic thinkers and operate  a large-scale installation in a remote location.

The project has won Ebert the Minister of Defence  Award of Excellence to Industry
